Our Work / Species Stewardship
Care for the whole life ahead.
We are developing an approach to stewardship that includes domestic and farm animals, wildlife, mammals, birds, insects and other invertebrates. Their needs differ, but each has a part in a healthy living world.
Sanctuary
No animal arrives with an expiry date.
Our planned sanctuaries would offer safety and skilled care to domestic, farm and wild animals. When an animal cannot return to its previous environment, a permanent home must be a real possibility.
Individual care
Start with the life in front of us.
Care must suit the species. For some, that means veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and a safe home. For insects and other invertebrates, it may mean protecting the food sources, shelter and conditions they need to complete their natural life cycles.
Rehabilitation
Make the right future possible.
Where recovery and release are suitable, we must understand whether the habitat can support that life. Where an animal cannot return, continuing care and a permanent home must be considered.
Veterinary capability
Bring better care within reach.
We aim to develop specialist veterinary and rehabilitation capability, including clinical facilities and technologies such as 3D modelling and prosthetics where they can improve an animal’s life.
Working together
Share what helps animals thrive.
We look to work with veterinary teams, researchers and animal welfare organisations, sharing useful knowledge and methods beyond the facilities we plan to develop. HEADTURNED will not conduct, support, commission, fund or host animal testing.

Every life deserves more than survival.
Species stewardship means taking responsibility for an animal’s welfare, recovery and quality of life for as long as that animal needs us.
