Centre for Applied Discovery
A place to turn discovery into meaningful work.
The Centre for Applied Discovery is a planned home for people working across research, technology, design and practical care. It will bring different skills together to develop approaches that can support nature’s recovery and the systems humanity depends on.
From question to application
Bring discovery closer to the work.
A question in the field, a growing system or a place of care can reveal something we need to understand. The Centre will give people a shared place to investigate, design and develop responses that can be applied in practice.
Many disciplines, one place
Make room for people to do their best work together.
Researchers, engineers, designers, ecologists, veterinary professionals, educators and others each bring a different way of seeing a problem. The Centre is intended to help them work across disciplines, develop skills and contribute to work with a lasting purpose.
What the Centre could bring together
Give ideas the tools to become useful.
Its planned scope includes agricultural technology, sensing, drones, robotics, 3D modelling, prosthetics and advancements in veterinary care. Research, digital systems and physical technologies would sit close enough to practical work to learn from it and respond to real needs.
Designed for the work and the people
Build a place people want to be part of.
We envision a calm, light filled setting with landscape and shared spaces at its centre, alongside the specialist areas the work requires. The building’s design will need to support collaboration, focused work, animal care and responsible use of resources. Its site and final form are still to be developed.
A clear boundary
Animals are never experimental subjects.
HEADTURNED does not support, perform, commission, fund or host animal testing. Veterinary care is for the benefit of the animal receiving it. Research and development at the Centre will use approaches that do not test on animals.
A place to contribute
Your life’s work could start here.
The Centre is being planned as a place where knowledge and skills can grow through shared work. Its future will be shaped by the people who bring their experience, questions and commitment to it.
