HEADTURNED legal

Terms of Use

These Terms explain the conditions for accessing and using the HEADTURNED Ecosystem. They protect our organisation, our work and everyone who engages with our websites, platforms and digital services.

These Terms apply across the entire HEADTURNED Ecosystem, including current and future websites, applications, digital services and platforms, unless a service-specific agreement expressly replaces them.

Using our Services

A clear framework for responsible access and engagement.

By accessing or using any part of the HEADTURNED Ecosystem, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, you should not use our Services.

These Terms cover both the public website and the wider ecosystem as it develops, including Foundation, Innovation, Learning, Media, HEADTURNED PPV and future digital services.

Purpose

The HEADTURNED Ecosystem exists to share knowledge, encourage learning, advance innovation and develop digital services that support our long-term mission.

Our Services may evolve over time. New platforms, applications and technologies may be introduced, while existing Services may be expanded, redesigned or retired as our organisation develops.

Our principles

HEADTURNED aims to operate its Services with integrity, respect for privacy, responsible stewardship of knowledge and intellectual property, and a commitment to safe and constructive engagement.

These principles provide context for the standards set out in these Terms. They do not replace any legal obligations that apply to HEADTURNED or to people using our Services.

Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using any part of the HEADTURNED Ecosystem, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms and agree to comply with them.

If you access the Services on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

If you do not accept these Terms, you must stop using the Services.

Scope

These Terms apply to all publicly available and authenticated Services operated by HEADTURNED unless a separate agreement expressly applies.

  • Websites and applications.
  • Digital platforms and online products.
  • Foundation programmes and initiatives.
  • Innovation, research and technology services.
  • Learning and educational resources.
  • Media, publishing and communication services.
  • HEADTURNED PPV and related creator or subscriber services.
  • Future services introduced within the HEADTURNED Ecosystem.

Certain Services may include additional service-specific terms. Where those terms apply, they supplement these Terms. If there is a conflict, the service-specific terms take precedence for that particular Service.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the Services lawfully, responsibly and respectfully.

You must not:

  • Use the Services for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, account, data or network.
  • Interfere with the operation, security, integrity or availability of the Services.
  • Introduce malware, viruses, malicious code or other harmful technologies.
  • Harvest, extract, crawl or scrape information using automated methods without our prior written permission.
  • Circumvent technical protections, rate limits, access controls or security measures.
  • Impersonate another individual, organisation or authorised representative.
  • Submit or distribute material that is unlawful, abusive, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, exploitative or deliberately misleading.
  • Infringe intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality or other rights belonging to another person or organisation.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with software except where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Use the Services in a way that could damage HEADTURNED, its users, its partners or its reputation.

We may investigate suspected misuse and may suspend, restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect our Services, users, partners, organisation or legal interests.

Accounts and authenticated services

Some Services may require registration, authentication or the creation of an account.

Where an account is provided, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure, providing accurate information and notifying us where you believe an account has been compromised.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless that activity resulted from a failure within systems controlled by HEADTURNED.

Additional terms may apply to creator services, subscriptions, commerce, payments, support systems, community spaces or other authenticated Services.

Intellectual property

The work published throughout the HEADTURNED Ecosystem represents the time, knowledge, creativity and investment of HEADTURNED and its contributors.

Unless otherwise stated, all intellectual property rights within the HEADTURNED Ecosystem belong to HEADTURNED or are used under an appropriate licence.

  • Names, brands, logos and visual identities.
  • Designs, layouts, illustrations and photography.
  • Written, educational, editorial and research content.
  • Video, audio and other media.
  • Software, source code, interfaces and technical systems.
  • Documentation, datasets and operational materials.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

You may access Content for personal, educational or informational purposes unless otherwise stated. You must not reproduce, modify, republish, distribute, license, sell or commercially exploit Content without prior written permission, except where applicable law permits that use.

Content owned by creators, partners or other third parties remains subject to the rights and licences stated for that Content.

User contributions and submissions

Some Services may allow you to submit messages, applications, proposals, support requests, media, comments, information or other material.

When you submit material, you confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to do so and that the material complies with applicable law and these Terms.

You remain responsible for material you submit. You must not submit confidential information belonging to another person or organisation unless you are authorised to disclose it.

Where necessary to provide a requested Service, you grant HEADTURNED a limited permission to store, process, reproduce and communicate submitted material for that purpose.

We may reject, moderate, restrict or remove submissions that we reasonably believe breach these Terms, violate rights, create legal or security risks, or undermine the safe operation of the Services.

Partnerships and collaboration

HEADTURNED may engage in discussions relating to collaboration, research, education, innovation, media, sponsorship, funding, partnerships or other opportunities.

Discussions, meetings, proposals, demonstrations, correspondence and expressions of interest do not create a contract, legal partnership, agency relationship, joint venture, fiduciary duty or other binding obligation.

Any binding arrangement must be recorded in a separate written agreement approved by authorised representatives of the relevant parties.

Unless a confidentiality agreement has been signed, you should not provide confidential, commercially sensitive or proprietary information during an initial discussion or submission.

Research, learning and informational content

HEADTURNED may publish research, educational materials, commentary, guidance, reports, media and other informational Content.

This Content is provided for general information and learning. It may not account for your individual circumstances and should not be treated as a substitute for qualified professional advice.

You remain responsible for evaluating information before relying on it or applying it in practice.

Commerce, payments and subscriptions

Some Services may enable purchases, subscriptions, creator payments, contributions, tips, paid access or other commercial transactions.

Where these features are available, service-specific terms, pricing, payment conditions, refund rules and access conditions may also apply.

Payments may be processed by authorised third-party payment providers. HEADTURNED does not necessarily receive or store complete payment-card details.

You are responsible for ensuring that payment and billing information you provide is accurate and that you are authorised to use the selected payment method.

Third-party services and links

The HEADTURNED Ecosystem may contain links to third-party websites, content, products or services. Certain functions may also rely on trusted third-party providers.

Third-party services are governed by their own terms, policies and operating practices. HEADTURNED does not control and is not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices.

A link, reference or technical integration does not necessarily represent endorsement, sponsorship or a formal relationship.

Availability and changes

We continually develop and improve the HEADTURNED Ecosystem.

We may modify, replace, suspend, relocate or withdraw Services or features where reasonably necessary. We may also perform maintenance, introduce usage limits or restrict access to protect security and reliability.

We will take reasonable steps to minimise unnecessary disruption, but we do not guarantee that every Service will always be available, uninterrupted or unchanged.

Accuracy of information

We take reasonable care to ensure that information published through the HEADTURNED Ecosystem is accurate and appropriately presented.

Information, research and external circumstances may change over time. We therefore cannot guarantee that all Content will always be complete, current, error-free or suitable for every purpose.

Where errors are identified, we may correct, clarify, update or remove Content without notice.

Privacy and cookies

Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Our use of cookies, local storage and similar technologies is explained in our Cookie Policy.

Those policies form part of the framework governing your use of the HEADTURNED Ecosystem.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect the HEADTURNED Ecosystem and the information processed through it.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. You must not attempt to test, probe or exploit a suspected vulnerability without our prior written authorisation.

Where a secure reporting process is introduced, suspected security issues should be reported through that process rather than disclosed publicly or exploited.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate access to a Service where we reasonably believe it is necessary to address misuse, security threats, legal requirements, non-payment, risk to others or a material breach of these Terms.

Where appropriate and lawful, we may provide an explanation or an opportunity to resolve the issue. Immediate action may be taken where delay could increase risk or harm.

Provisions concerning intellectual property, liability, governing law and any obligations intended to survive termination will continue to apply.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

To the extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that they will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or suitable for every intended use.

Where you use the Services as an individual consumer, your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Where you use the Services for business or organisational purposes, HEADTURNED will not be responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill or loss of data, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

HEADTURNED is not responsible for loss arising from events outside its reasonable control, your failure to follow reasonable security guidance, or reliance on Content beyond the purpose for which it was provided.

Indemnity for organisational and commercial use

Where you use the Services on behalf of a business, institution or other organisation, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the Services, your infringement of another party’s rights or your material breach of these Terms.

This section does not apply to individual consumers acting wholly outside a trade, business, craft or profession.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the HEADTURNED Ecosystem evolves, new Services are introduced or legal requirements change.

The updated Terms will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

Where changes materially affect an authenticated or paid Service, additional notice may be provided where appropriate.

Your continued use of the Services after revised Terms take effect means that the revised Terms will govern that continued use.

Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

A delay or failure by HEADTURNED to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising in connection with these Terms or the Services, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
